In the present study, three objectives were formulated: First objective was to characterize male volleyball university level players on their SAQ Characteristics. Second objective was to find out relationship between SAQ Characteristics and performance of male university level volleyball players. Third objective was to estimate volleyball performance on the basis of SAQ Characteristics. Twenty male volleyball players from different universities of India and who performed blocking position were selected as subjects. Age of the subjects ranged from 18 to 24 years. The study was conducted by taking SAQ (Speed, Agility and Quickness) Characteristics as independent variables and Blockers performance was selected for dependent variable. To characterize university level male volleyball players on their SAQ Characteristics, descriptive statistics was used. To find out relationship between SAQ Characteristics and performance of male university level volleyball players, Product Moment Method of Correlation will be used. To estimate volleyball performance on the basis of SAQ Characteristics in volleyball players, Multiple regression equation was established. The relationship between Blockers Performance and Speed, Blockers Performance and Agility, Blockers Performance and Quickness, Speed and Agility, Speed and Quickness & Agility and Quickness are found significant at .05 level of significance. Only one regression model was established in this study. Established model is: Blockers performance = 48.01– 3.71X Speed.
Key words: Blockers Performance, SAQ Characteristics.
