Dhyanchand Awardee Shri Syed Ali as a Coach: A Case Study

A case study was designed on Dhyanchand Awardee Shri Syed Ali as a coach to the promotion of Indian hockey. The purpose of this study was to collect the information about the coaching abilities and qualities of Syed Ali. Data Information for this investigation was derived from the primary i.e. personal records, pictorial records, news papers, official records and secondary sources. Hundred sports person who played under the umbrella of K D Singh ‘Babu’ Memorial Hockey Society, Lucknow and represented national and international level selected as the subject from all over the country. Survey technique was used to obtain responses and reactions through opinion rating questionnaire to get desired information. Opinion rating questionnaire on Shri Syed Ali was constructed by researcher with the help of supervisor and experts. Thirty dimensions were selected for the responses on as a coach. To estimate the strength of feeling, five points rating scale was used. The subjects will also be requested to return the questionnaire with the necessary information at the earliest convenience. Finally the total number of responses received and converted in terms of percentage and for data interpretation the average of percentage of responses have used. Result: majority of respondents either strongly agreed or agreed. It indicates that the Society’s players have opined that Dhyanchand Awardee Shri Syed Ali as a coach and overall group also have positive opinion towards the statements. It concluded that he have many qualities/ abilities of coaching and it revealed that he is very punctual, motivating personality, honest, possess international standard of coaching, and keeps transparency in his working culture.
